Green living has become the latest trend these days. From its humble beginnings to its worldwide popularity, the concept of green living has withstood the test of time. When we burn fossil fuels, harmful chemicals and gases are released into the air. These toxic elements increase the overall temperature, and thus result in global warming. Since over a decade, environmental scientists have been debating over the depletion of the Ozone layer- a layer of gas that protects the earth from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. In the absence of this ozone layer, our skin would be exposed to toxic sun rays, resulting in cancer and various other skin ailments.

Population burst has led to increase in automobiles. This has increased the extent of pollution all over the world. That is why car manufacturers, in collaboration with automobile engineers, introduced the concept of hybrid automobiles- vehicles that run on conventional fuel as well as electricity. A hybrid vehicle has an eco-friendly engine. This engine is connected to an electric motor. The motor generates electric power to move the vehicle.

Why should one buy a hybrid car? The reasons are many. The biggest advantage if using a hybrid vehicle is that it does not pollute the atmosphere. Scientists predict that if 40% of people in the world start using hybrid vehicles, there would be subsequent dip in global temperature. Keeping the environmental aspect aside, hybrid car owners qualify for discounts on insurance policies, as well as government tax. What is the technology used in hybrid vehicles? Regenerative Braking Technology (RBT) is the name of the next-generation technology that charges the batter of a hybrid car even when there is no external source.

If you can’t get financing on your hybrid car, what are some other alternatives? Hybrid cars are expensive in comparison to conventional vehicles. Therefore, you can apply for a payday loan to pay the monthly installments of your car loan.

What happens to Tesla if Elon Musk goes bankrupt?

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is out of money and his company is on the verge of some major transactions that could make or break the company according to some reports.

Thanks to divorce proceedings, Elon Musk’s deteriorating finances are now part of the public record. Unfortunately, according to CNNMoney, it isn’t just Musk’s personal finances that are in trouble, but possibly those of Tesla as well, despite a recent deal with Toyota.

“But Tesla isn’t guaranteed Toyota’s help until it completes an initial public offering, and the fact that Tesla is spending $42 million on the Fremont plant, or Nummi, may not bode well for the electric car maker.”

Hybrid sport utility vehicles have been around for about 5-6 years now (the first was the 2005 hybrid Ford Escape that went on sale in 2004) and while there once were several more to choose from (including the hybrid Dodge Durango, hybrid Saturn Vue, hybrid Chrysler Aspen and the hybrid Mazda Tribute), you still have a decent selection to consider today.

Once you begin researching hybrid SUV’s you will notice a huge range of prices. On the low end are the Escape and Mariner which both start around $30K. On the other end of the green spectrum sits a new BMW hybrid that fully loaded will push up against $100K. Below is a quick roundup of ‘10 model hybrid sport utilities ordered from least to most expensive. I’ll add some photos and links to reviews next, but this should get you started.

2010 Ford Escape Hybrid
Notes: $38,015 gets you the 4WD Limited Model. Some of the options in the package include side step bars, active park assist, dual-headrest DVD entertainment system, cargo area protector and powercode remote start system.

2010 Mercury Mariner Hybrid
Starting MSRP: $30,105
Starting MSRP: $34,900
Fully Loaded: $52,430
Notes: Well loaded doesn’t begin to cover the options that increase the base price of this hybrid SUV by 50%. It started with selecting the 4WD, Limited model and included a $7,372 package with extras such as DVD entertainment system, dual climate control, remote engine start, engine immobilizer anti-theft and a moonroof. All the accessories were added too like a tow hitch, running boards, bike and ski attachments, iPod kit and many more.

2010 Lexus RX 450h

2010 BMW ActiveHybrid X6
Starting MSRP: $88,900
Fully Loaded: $95,124
Notes: I fully expected I could get this luxury SUV to exceed $100,000 but came up about $5k short. The extras I added included active ventilated seats, a cold weather package, rear side window shades, smartphone integration, enhanced premium sound, rear seat entertainment, automatic high beams and the BMW assist convenience plan.

Audi has confirmed that it will bring a hybrid Q5 model to market in 2011, the first mass-market hybrid vehicle for the German brand. Audi will offer a hybrid version of its Q5 premium SUV in the US starting in late 2010, says Wolfgang Hatz, head of powertrain development for the Volkswagen group.

If the car is a success in the US, Audi said it may launch it in Europe.

In an interview, Hatz said Audi must offer a hybrid model to compete with rival vehicles that already offer the technology, such as the Lexus RX 400h. The BMW X6 will be offered as a hybrid late this year, and Mercedes-Benz plans to roll out a hybrid in each of its major models starting with the S400 hybrid this year.

Opinion is split on whether Audi will use nickel metal hydride or lithium ion batteries in the Q5 Hybrid. However odds are high that the powertrain will be similar to the 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine and 300Nm electric assistance motor used by the upcoming 2011 Porsche Cayenne hybrid, 2010 Porsche Panamera hybrid and 2010 VW Touareg hybrid.

Up until now, Audi has resolutely stuck to clean diesel technology as its answer to emissions reduction.

It remains to be seen whether the automaker will follow up the Q5 Hybrid with more petrol-electric models. Some commentators postulate that the petrol-electric Audi is less about reducing CO2 and more about profiting in the hybrid-friendly US market.

Audi, like its compatriot Mercedes-Benz, favours all-electric powertrains as its long-term answer to reducing environmental impact. The company has revealed that it intends to launch a battery-electric version of its R8 supercar by late 2012, with the technology to eventually work its way down the Audi range.

For now though, the company is keen to demonstrate what it can do with petrol-electric technology. The Audi Q5 Hybrid is due to be officially unveiled in late 2010, most likely at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Hybrid vehicles are generally vehicles that operate using two different power sources, and is one of the most frequently used forms a hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV), which uses a combination of an electric motor and a conventional combustion engine. The hybrid is a parallel hybrid, the electric motor and the conventional in such a way that they can individually power the vehicle or work in tandem to install. One example is the Honda Insight. A hybrid can be used as a mild parallel hybrid where a small electrical motor to provide additional power during acceleration and deceleration is produced. Examples of mild parallel hybrids are the Honda Civic and Honda Insight and the BMW 7 Series of hybrid cars.

The fundamental question to be addressed here: Why should we care about alternative energy sources and renewable energy sources? The simple answer is that the car is to drive an activity having a significant impact on climate change is added. Each liter of gasoline is burned, that releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere 20 pounds plus other pollutants such as carbon monoxide and sulfur oxides. Carbon dioxide is one of the main causes for the heat to be trapped in the atmosphere. In the United States, cars and trucks contribute 27 percent of the total carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, fossil fuels such as coal or oil is not renewable, and we will certainly exhaust the resources for a day, although the exact date is disputed. The United States, for example, generates about 70 percent of its electricity from fossil fuels, but only about two percent of clean and renewable energy sources such as wind or solar energy for use, such as underfloor heating.
